I was 18 the first time I saw the ocean, a day I’ll never forget.

Growing up in beautiful but landlocked Montana, I had only imagined it. So when I boarded my first-ever plane for a 5-month adventure in the Virgin Islands, I was stepping, flip flops optional, into the unknown.

Powder sand. The salted rhythm of the waves. Sun baked skin.

That first trip sparked a lifelong love of travel and coastal places, with adventures to follow in Europe, South Africa and Central Mexico.

Eventually I met my other half, and we were married on a quiet stretch of beach north of Puerto Vallarta.

Living in Montana, I love my mountains but often find myself missing the coast. Drawing on years of experience in design and photography, I set out to find a new creative muse: digital mapmaking.

Creating these maps has become my way of returning to those special places and memories.
